  • 4 med. carrots, cut in half, peeled to look like hot dogs
  • 1/4 cup reduced sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp steak sauce
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup
  • 2 tbsp ketchup
  • 2 tsp liquid smoke, optional
  • 8 slices Sargento® Ultra Thin™ Mild Cheddar Cheese
  • 1 pkg. refrigerated crescent roll dough or puff pastry
  1. In a small bowl combine soy sauce and next 4 ingredients.
  2. Add liquid to a medium skillet. Add carrot dogs, then turn heat to medium-low. Simmer carrots for 10-15 minutes or until crisp tender, turning carrots every few minutes to prevent burning. Remove carrots from pan with a pair of tongs and set aside to cool for 10 minutes.
  4. Unroll crescent dough and cut into 1/2-inch strips. Place 1 strip on a flat surface. Place a slice of Sargento Ultra Thin Mild Cheddar Cheese slightly overlapping the crescent roll triangle. Place 1 cooked carrot dog on the edge of cheddar cheese slice. Roll up cheese over carrot, then roll crescent triangle over cheese. Place seam side down on a lined cookie sheet. Repeat with remaining carrot dogs.
  5. Bake in a 375 degree oven for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown. Serve
