<p>Sargento® Fiesta™ Pepper String Cheese is cut into pieces, enrobed with fresh pizza dough, brushed with butter, and sprinkled with cornmeal. They are baked until golden brown and served with a side of salsa for dipping.</p>
Ingredients
- 1 lb. Pizza dough, divided into 12 equal pieces
- 8 Sticks Sargento® Fiesta™ Pepper String Cheese, cut into thirds
- 1 Tbsp. Butter, melted
- 1 Tbsp. Yellow cornmeal
- 1/2 cup Salsa, optional
Directions
- Pre-heat oven to 400 degrees. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Press a piece of dough into a 2 ½” - 3” circle in the palm of your hand. Transfer to the baking sheet. Repeat with remaining pieces of dough.
- Place 2 pieces of string cheese in the center of each circle. Bring the sides up and over the cheese and press together firmly, making sure all edges are well sealed.
- Place cheese stuffed dough ball seam side down on the baking sheet. Repeat with remaining dough rounds, placing each round about 2” apart.
- Brush each stuffed ball with butter, then sprinkle with cornmeal.
- Transfer baking sheet to middle rack of oven. Bake for 15-17 minutes or until golden brown or cheese starts oozing from one of the rolls.
- Transfer hot rolls to a serving plate or basket and serve with a side of salsa for dipping.
- Note: For a smokey alternative, substitute Sargento® Smokehouse String Cheese™ snacks for the Fiesta™ String Cheese.
