This tuna salad is not what you’d expect: Whole seared tuna steaks are perfectly seasoned and placed on a bed of greens with fresh-sliced bell peppers, tomatoes and a helping of smooth and rich Sargento® Shredded Mozzarella - Traditional Cut for optimal cheesy flavor.

  • 1/2 cup light vinaigrette or Italian salad dressing
  • 1 tsp. dried tarragon
  • 4 (6 oz. each) fresh tuna steaks, cut 1/2 -inch to 3/4-inch thick
  • 8 cups (8 oz.) salad greens
  • 1 cup tomatoes (teardrop, grape or cherry)
  • 1/2 cup yellow bell pepper strips
  • 1-3/4 cups (7 oz.) Sargento® Shredded Mozzarella - Traditional Cut or Sargento® Shredded 6 Cheese Italian, divided
  • Pepper
  1. Combine salad dressing and tarragon. Spoon 2 tablespoons dressing over tuna steaks. Grill over medium-high coals 2 minutes per side, or until tuna is seared on the outside, but still very pink in center (do not overcook or tuna will be tough).
  2. Combine salad greens, tomatoes, bell pepper strips and 1 cup cheese in large bowl. Add remaining dressing mixture; toss well. Transfer to serving plates; top with tuna and sprinkle with remaining cheese. Serve with pepper.
