mac

You can never go wrong with macaroni and cheese, an American favorite that has been gracing our tables for decades. We’ve created this recipe to include just the right amount of smooth Sargento® Shredded Mild Cheddar Cheese with a rich flavor that makes the perfect partner for tender macaroni.

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Melt butter in medium saucepan over medium heat. Cook onion, if desired, in butter 5 minutes or until tender. Stir in flour, salt and pepper. Gradually add milk and cook, stirring occasionally, until thickened.
  2. Remove from heat. Add 1-1/2 cups cheese and stir until cheese is melted. Combine cheese sauce with cooked macaroni. Pour into 1-1/2-quart casserole; top with remaining cheese. Bake in preheated 350°F oven 30 minutes or until bubbly and cheese is lightly browned.

I love this recipe. I have made it many times. It is delicious. This time I added bread crumbs on top and slices of vine ripened tomatoes.

I need to tweak it a little more . My picky wife enjoyed it and she doesn't really like anything. I can do better. This was a good foundation.

This is the best recipe! It is as close to my grandmother's Mac & Cheese recipe as i have found in over 30 years of hunting. I could have eaten the whole pan all by myself it was so good. Thank you Sargento cooks you hit the ball out of the park with this recipe!

Just like mommas Mac and cheese. I used Colby cheese and served with a side of stewed tomatoes.
