Biting into crispy taco shells filled with zesty flavored pork shoulder shreds and salsa is nothing short of a delicious culinary experience. Now you can make these authentic tacos at home with Sargento® Ultra Thin® Pepper Jack Cheese Slices and your favorite fresh salsa and avocado garnishes

  • 1 lb. boneless pork shoulder (see note below)
  • 1 tsp. chili powder
  • 1 tsp. ground cumin
  • 3/4 tsp. garlic salt
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 8 slices Sargento® Ultra Thin® Pepper Jack Cheese Slices, diagonally halved
  • 8 crisp taco shells, warmed according to package directions
  • 1/2 cup salsa
  • 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
  • 1 ripe avocado, peeled, seeded, diced (optional)
  1. Cut pork into 1-inch cubes; toss with chili powder, cumin and garlic salt in a medium saucepan. Add broth; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer gently until pork is very tender, 45 to 55 minutes. Remove from heat; use two forks to coarsely pull meat into shreds. (Broth should be absorbed.)
  2. Arrange cheese in warmed taco shells; top with meat mixture, salsa and cilantro. Garnish with avocado if desired.
