Fry up Monte Cristo sandwiches made with savory turkey slices and Sargento® Sliced Medium Cheddar Cheese. Serve between slices of cinnamon swirl bread with a touch of apple butter to add extra added sweetness and make this classic meal luxuriously indulgent.

  • 8 slices cinnamon swirl sandwich bread
  • 1/4 cup apple butter
  • 8 slices Sargento® Sliced Medium Cheddar Cheese or Colby Cheese
  • 6 oz. thinly sliced oven roasted or smoked turkey breast
  • 4 tsp. butter or margarine
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  1. Spread apple butter on one side of each bread slice. Top 4 slices bread with 4 slices cheese and turkey. Top with remaining 4 slices cheese and place remaining 4 slices bread over cheese, apple butter sides down.
  2. Heat butter on a large griddle or in two large non-stick skillets over medium-low heat. Beat together eggs and milk in a shallow pie plate. Dip each sandwich in egg mixture, turning to coat lightly with batter.
  3. Cook sandwiches in hot butter 4 minutes per side or until golden brown and cheese is melted. Cut each sandwich diagonally in half.
