There are so many flavors going on in this Italian-style burger from crispy bacon to handmade meat patties with a blend of spices and dressed with a layer of Sargento® Sliced Provolone-Mozzarella Cheese. Finish it all off by garnishing with fresh lettuce and tomato.

  • 1-1/4 lbs. ground beef chuck
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. freshly ground black pepper
  • 3 Tbsp. mayonnaise
  • 2 Tbsp. finely chopped fresh basil or Italian parsley
  • 1 small garlic clove, minced
  • 4 slices Sargento® Sliced Provolone-Mozzarella Cheese
  • 4 pretzel buns or brioche rolls, split, lightly toasted
  • 4 thick slices bacon, cooked crisp, halved
  • 4 slices red leaf lettuce
  • 4 slices large tomato
  1. Preheat grill to medium-high heat or have a ridged grill pan ready.
  2. Combine beef, salt and pepper; mix lightly but thoroughly. Shape to form 4 patties about 1/2-inch thick and 4 inches in diameter.
  3. Grill patties or cook in a ridged grill pan over medium heat 5 minutes per side for medium doneness, placing cheese over patties during the last minute of cooking.
  4. Meanwhile, combine mayonnaise, basil and garlic; spread over cut sides of buns. Serve burgers in buns with bacon, lettuce and tomato.
