
An all-beef patties are smash grilled, topped with Sargento® Natural American Cheese Slices, caramelized onion, and served on grilled brioche buns.

- Melt butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Add onions. Cook over medium heat until starting to brown. Reduce heat to low. Continue to cook for 5-10 minutes, stirring often until onions are golden brown and softened. Add a tablespoon of water after a few minutes if onions get to brown. Transfer to a small bowl and set aside.
- Pre-heat a flat top griddle over medium high heat. Add 1 tablespoon of butter unto griddle and spread with a spatula. Grill buns, cut side down until golden brown. Transfer to a plate and set aside.
- Place burgers on the hot griddle. Smash down the patties until thin and flattened. Cook for 1 minute. Flip burgers
- Season burgers with salt and pepper. Add 2 slices of cheese to each burger. Grill an additional minute. Transfer burgers to the grilled bun bottoms. Repeat with remaining 4 burger patties.
- Spoon 2 tablespoon of browned onions on top of each grilled burger. Place one onion topped cheeseburger over the ones on the bun bottoms. Add bun top and serve.
