This dish is sure to brighten up your morning with layers of hearty bread slices and Sargento® Sliced Swiss Cheese. Just butter it up and cook with whisked eggs and milk to create a skillet-fresh meal that's cheesy and delicious.
1 loaf Italian or French bread
6 Tbsp. butter, divided
12 slices Sargento® Sliced Swiss Cheese
1/2 cup milk
1/4 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. freshly ground black pepper
Sargento® Grated Parmesan Cheese
Slice bread loaf lengthwise down the middle, 3/4 of the way through. Slice into 6 pieces, forming sandwich pockets. Butter inside of each pocket; stuff with 2 slices of cheese.
Beat eggs in shallow dish, stir in milk, salt and pepper. Melt 2 tablespoons butter in large non-stick skillet over medium heat. Dip sandwich pockets in egg mixture; transfer to skillet.
Cook 3 minutes per side or until golden brown. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and serve.
