State recognition marks Entringer as the second Master Cheesemaker in the company’s history, reflecting a legacy of expertise spanning generations

PLYMOUTH, Wis., April 16, 2026 — Sargento proudly announces that longtime employee Tim Entringer has earned the prestigious designation of Wisconsin Master Cheesemaker®, a rare honor recognizing exceptional expertise, craftsmanship and commitment to the art and science of cheesemaking. Tim’s achievement will be recognized during a ceremony at the Wisconsin Cheese Makers Association CheeseExpo today in Milwaukee.

Administered by the Center for Dairy Research and the Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board, the Wisconsin Master Cheesemaker Program is the only program of its kind in the United States. The rigorous, three-year certification requires candidates to have at least 10 years of licensed cheesemaking experience, demonstrate consistent product excellence, and complete advanced coursework, testing and evaluation.

Tim is now one of less than 100 Master Cheesemakers in the state and becomes the second in company history to achieve this high distinction.

“This is a phenomenal achievement for Tim and ultimately the entire Sargento Family,” said Louie Gentine, Chairman and CEO of Sargento. “This recognition symbolizes Tim’s dedication, determination and passion for cheese. His journey is a great example of our culture and what has defined Sargento for more than 70 years, lifelong learning and a commitment to high-quality, natural cheese. We congratulate Tim on this major accomplishment and thank him for his contributions not only to Sargento, but also the industry that fuels our state’s economy.”

Tim’s path to Master Cheesemaker spans more than three decades. He joined Sargento in 1994 at the age of 18 and has spent 32 years with the company, progressing from entry-level roles to becoming a licensed cheesemaker in 2000. His career has been deeply rooted in hands-on experience, including making cheese, refining techniques, and contributing to the production of high-quality mozzarella, the variety in which he is now certified as a Master Cheesemaker.

Growing up on a dairy farm, Tim developed an early appreciation for the craft, taking pride in transforming milk from local farms into products enjoyed by families across the country.

“Becoming a Master Cheesemaker is something I’ve worked toward for many years,” said, Tim Entringer, Assistant Plant Manager at Sargento. “It’s a reflection of the people who have supported me along the way. I take great pride in the work we do every day and I’m grateful to Sargento for investing in my journey and supporting me throughout the process.”
