A good chili is meant to be bold and should be exploding with full-bodied flavors and this recipe delivers just that. When the chili has cooked just enough at a simmering reduced heat, it’s time to construct the most perfect chili bowls topped with bacon bits and Sargento® Shredded Double Cheddar Cheese. Every spoonful will be uniquely delightful and cheesy.

  • 2 lbs. lean ground beef
  • 2 medium onions, coarsely chopped
  • 2 Tbsp. chili powder
  • 2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 2 tsp. cumin
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce
  • 1 can (28 oz.) crushed or diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 1 can (15 oz.) tomato sauce
  • 2 cans (14 oz. each) black beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1/4 cup real bacon bits or crumbled cooked bacon
  • 2 cups (8 oz.) Sargento® Shredded Double Cheddar Cheese or Sargento® Shredded Extra Sharp Cheddar Cheese, divided
  1. Brown ground beef with onions in a 4-quart saucepan 8 to 10 minutes; pour off drippings. Stir in chili powder, cinnamon and cumin; cook 1 minute.
  2. Add barbecue sauce, crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce and black beans; mix well. Bring to a boil over high heat. Reduce heat; simmer 20 minutes. Stir in 1 cup cheese and bacon bits. Ladle into bowls, top with remaining cheese.
