Get a couple napkins handy because these Italian Sloppy Joes live up to the name. Tender Italian sausage is simmered in a red sauce with chopped onions, bell peppers and dried basil and then each serving is loaded onto a kaiser roll and topped with Sargento® Sliced Mozzarella Cheese that melts perfectly on top.

Ingredients
  • 1 lb. bulk Italian sausage
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 1 small green or yellow bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 cup pasta sauce
  • 1 tsp. dried basil leaves
  • 4 Kaiser rolls, split and toasted
  • 4 slices Sargento® Sliced Mozzarella Cheese
Directions
  1. Cook sausage with onion and bell pepper in large skillet over medium heat until no longer pink, stirring frequently; drain. Add pasta sauce and basil; simmer 5 minutes or until thickened, stirring occasionally.
  2. Fill each roll with sausage mixture and a slice of cheese.
