One of the most iconic Italian pasta dishes around the world is a steaming plate of aromatic and creamy fettuccine with Alfredo sauce. Our recipe for this classic dish includes a homemade sauce that’s created with smooth Sargento® Whole Milk Ricotta Cheese, chopped parsley, minced garlic and a combination of basil and oregano for that signature Italian flavor.

  • 3 Tbsp. butter or margarine
  • 1/3 cup sliced green onions
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 Tbsp. all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. dried basil
  • 1/2 tsp. dried oregano
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 1-3/4 cups milk
  • 1 cup (4 oz.) Sargento® Shredded Mozzarella - Traditional Cut
  • 1 cup Sargento® Whole Milk Ricotta Cheese
  • 3 Tbsp. chopped fresh parsley
  • 10 oz. fettuccine or spaghetti, uncooked
  1. Melt butter in medium saucepan; add onions and garlic. Cook 5 minutes or until tender. Stir in flour, salt, basil, oregano and pepper. Gradually stir in milk; cook and stir until thick and bubbly. Remove from heat.
  2. Add cheeses. Stir until melted and thoroughly combined. Stir in parsley; keep warm.
  3. Cook fettuccine according to package directions. Toss immediately with cheese sauce and serve.
