A pizza Florentine appetizer is within reach thanks to our simple recipe that includes tons of minced garlic, chopped spinach, basil and red pepper flakes. Place it all on a pizza crust with pizza sauce and melted Sargento® Sliced Mozzarella Cheese for authentic Italian flavor.

  • 1 Tbsp. olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 pkg. (10 oz.) frozen chopped spinach, thawed and squeezed dry
  • 1 tsp. dried basil
  • 1/4 tsp. crushed red pepper flakes or pepper
  • 1/4 tsp. salt (optional)
  • 2 pkgs. (10 oz. each) 8-inch prepared pizza crusts
  • 1/2 cup pizza sauce
  • 8 slices Sargento® Sliced Provolone Cheese or Sargento® Sliced Mozzarella Cheese, cut in half
  • 2 Tbsp. chopped fresh basil (optional)
  • 1 chopped tomato (optional)
  1. Heat oil in a small skillet over medium heat. Add garlic; cook 1 minute. Add spinach, basil, pepper flakes and, if desired, salt; cook 2 minutes more, stirring frequently.
  2. Arrange pizza crusts on baking sheet. Spread pizza sauce over crusts; top with spinach mixture and cheese. Bake in preheated 450°F oven 8 minutes or until crust is golden brown.
  3. Sprinkle fresh basil and tomato over pizzas, if desired. Cut each pizza into 8 wedges; serve warm.
