Combine mayonnaise, basil and lemon juice; set aside.
Pour 1/4 cup dressing over chicken. Preheat grill or broiler. Grill or broil 6 minutes per side or until juices are clear.
Combine lettuce, tomatoes and remaining 1/4 cup dressing. Cut in half; open pockets. Spread mayonnaise mixture inside pita bread pockets. Fill with lettuce mixture. Cut chicken crosswise into 1/2-inch thick slices. Arrange over lettuce mixture; top with cheese.
