Happy Face Pancakes
Ingredients
- Whole wheat pancake mix, enough for 4 large pancakes
- 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
- 2 Sargento® Mild Cheddar Cheese Sticks or Sargento® Sharp Cheddar Cheese Sticks
- Flavored applesauce or warm maple syrup (optional)
Directions
- Prepare pancake mix for 4 pancakes according to package directions, adding cinnamon to batter. Cut cheese sticks crosswise into 16 slices, about 1/4-inch each.
- Heat griddle or large nonstick skillet over medium heat to 375°F. For each pancake, drop 1/4 cup batter at a time, onto hot griddle. Cook until lightly browned on bottom, 2 minutes. Turn; immediately place 8 cheese slices decoratively forming two eyes, a nose and smiling mouth. Continue cooking 2 minutes or until bottom is lightly browned and pancakes are puffed. Transfer, face side up, to warm plates. Serve with applesauce.
