Monte Cristo Sandwiches
Ingredients
- 4 eggs, beaten
- 1 cup nonfat milk
- 4 tsp. Sargento® Grated Parmesan Cheese
- 1/4 tsp. pepper
- 4 slices (1 oz. each) ham
- 4 slices Sargento® Deli Style Sliced Aged Swiss Cheese
- 8 slices sourdough or French bread, 1/2-inch thick
- 4 tsp. margarine
Directions
- Combine eggs, milk, Parmesan cheese and pepper in medium bowl; set aside.
- Top 4 bread slices with slice of Swiss cheese and slice of ham; top with remaining four bread slices.
- Heat margarine in small nonstick skillet until bubbly. Dip each sandwich into egg mixture, turning several times to absorb as much liquid as possible. Place in skillet, pouring a bit of remaining egg mixture over top of bread. Cook over medium-low heat 3 minutes per side or until golden brown and crisp.
