Smoky Caramelized Onion, Bacon, Spinach & Sharp Cheddar Cheese Dip
INGREDIENTS
- 4 slices thick applewood smoked bacon, chopped
- 1 cup chopped sweet onion
- 1 (10 oz.) pkg. frozen chopped spinach, thawed, squeezed dry
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 tsp. grated nutmeg (optional)
- 1-3/4 cups (7 oz.) Sargento® ChefStyle Shredded Extra Sharp Cheddar Cheese
- Pita or bagel chips

Cook bacon in a skillet over medium heat until crisp. Use a slotted spoon to transfer bacon to a paper towel. Pour off all but 1 tablespoon of the drippings. Add onion; sauté until golden brown, about 5 minutes. Add spinach; saute 2 minutes. Stir in cream and nutmeg; remove from heat.

Stir in cheese and reserved bacon; spread mixture into a 9-inch pie plate. Bake in preheated 375°F oven 20 minutes or until heated through. Serve warm with chips.
