Preheat oven to 350°F.
In a bowl, stir together eggs, corn, chilies, chives and cornmeal. Fold in 1-3/4 cups cheese and salt. Grease 12-inch baking dish with butter and pour corn and cheese mixture into it.
Bake 45-50 minutes until golden brown. Remove from oven; top with remaining cheese. Let stand 10 minutes before serving.
