Welsh Rarebit
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- 1/2 cup beer*
- 1/2 cup milk or cream
- 1-1/2 cups (6 oz.) Sargento® Artisan Blends® Shredded Double Cheddar Cheese
- 2 drops hot sauce (optional)
- 4 slices rye bread, toasted
Directions
- Melt butter in medium saucepan over low heat. Add flour and whisk until smooth. Cook 2 to 3 minutes, whisking constantly. Whisk in mustard and beer. Add milk and whisk until mixture is smooth and begins to bubble. Gradually add cheese, stirring constantly until melted. Add hot sauce, if desired, and pour over toast.
