Melt butter in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Separate onion slices into rings; add to skillet. Cover; cook 3 minutes or until onions are wilted. Reduce heat; stir well and continue cooking uncovered 10 minutes or until onions are tender and golden brown, stirring occasionally. Season with salt and pepper, if desired.
Meanwhile, combine meat, Worcestershire sauce and seasoned salt, mixing lightly but thoroughly. Form mixture into 4 patties about 1/2-inch thick. Grill patties, covered, over medium-hot coals or broil 4 to 5 minutes per side or until barely pink in center or longer to desired doneness. Top with cheese during last minute of cooking.
Place lettuce on bottom of buns; top with patties, the onions and tops of buns. Serve with optional toppings as desired.
